Notts & Derby XC Championships.

Long Eaton had to split themselves between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for these Championships held at Ashfield School near Mansfield on a cold and wet Saturday 6th Jan.

It worked out that 6 men runners ran for Notts, 10 ran for Derbyshire with Luke Seamer in the under 17 class finishing his race in 8th place and achieving a Derby Vest. His dad , Alan narrowly missing out on a senior Derby Vest but his finishing position of 18th is good enough for him to be a replacement for the Derby Team. (I don't think that Alan would believe it if he knew 17th place runner was Richard Wilson!)

Long Eaton's Derbyshire team Finished 4th Place overall with Rob Fox,Ian Chant,Graham Whitt, Phil Abbott, Rob Easter,Shaun Burton and Rennie Higson in his first race for 2 years making up the team.

The Results for the Notts side of Long Eaton were 48th Alan Maplethorpe, 56th Rich Wilkinson, 67th Rob Jackson, 80th Darren Lovatt, 86th Colin Bostock and 90th Phil Walters.

In the ladies races Sharon Orridge(Notts) was a fantastic 2nd place which was no mean feat considering the churned up nature of the course with the mud trying to pull off shoes and areas of the course resembling a quagmire. The 4 other Long Eaton ladies ran for Derbyshire with Louise Hughes 21st in 39:56 continuing her good recent form. Vicky Yeomans was 22nd 11 seconds behind Louise, Zoe Fletcher was 24th and Barbara Bostock skated over the mud to finish 29th.
