Ambergate Fell Race


13 is unlucky for some but not Ian Adkin as he finished 1st for Long Eaton and 13th over all in the second individual race of the year that Long Eaton running club take part in.

Ian is in the form of his life at the moment and looks like he will go on to set some very good time this year. The tough course staged by Dave Denton is 5.75 miles long has long steep up hill sections and very stamina sapping shoe stealing mud.

John Birch also showing fine early year form was 25th, Alan Maplethorpe making a name for himself was just behind in 52.06, Rich Wilkinson coming back from Injury was 1 place and 4 Secs behind Alan. The crafty Rob Fox was next Followed by Andrei Vais Training now in Huddersfield who managed 56.16, Craig parker,John Hay and Damien Cowlishaw were 72nd,89th and 93rd respectivily.

Colin Bostock in his 3rd race in 6 days was in the top 100.

Vicky Yeomans was 1st home for the women in 64:11, Zoe Fletcher without Shaun Burton to get in her way was 130th, Debbie Parker liking the hills and mud was 132nd, Carole Birch was 157th and Barbara Bostock was 166th. Both Stu Bell and Pete Fowles also made their racing debuts of 2007.
