Southwell 10k
The last race of the year for LERC was the Southwell 10k held on new years eve. This flat and fast out and back course proved harder this year with a strong cold wind blowing against the runners between miles 4 and 5.
Nine ladies and 20 men from the Long Eaton running club Breezed the 6.2 miles and achieved very respectable times. Neil Renault added to his growing reputation for winning local races was yet again 1st in 30:45 only second outside his PB. Along with his recent time for a 5k (14:50) is proving that he is becoming one of the best runners in the country.
Andy McNeil proving there is life after 40 was 6th overall and 1st man over 40 to finish in 33:05. Ian Chant running out of his skin beat Glen Coleman for the first time ever to finish 46th with Glen 57th. Alan Maplethorpe and Jon Trindell continued their excellent form both Posting Personal bests. PBs were also set by Phil Abbott whose apperance completed his 50 races in 2006 goal, Damien Cowlishaw, Bill Sheppard and Richard Wheat. Shaun Burton set his best time for 2006 just piping Colin Bostock, Kev Holland and Clive Allison were back after a long time out.
Sharon Orridge newly a Long Eaton Runner after many years at Notts AC proved to be best of the Ladies with 53rd overall 4th overall for Long Eaton (Men and Women) and 2nd over 35 lady her time was 37:47. Annette Ellison was next followed by Catherine Rowe both with very good times. Debbie Parker was 88th woman, Barbara Bostock was faster by over 4 minutes on last years time to finish in 55:25. Clare Price was 184th, Karen Preston with her first race in a year was just over the hour, Vicky Lockhart and Ann Church were 232nd and 242nd respectivly
