Clowne Half Marathon

26th November 2005 proved a good one for Long Eaton Running Club Members in both the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k and the Clowne Half Marathon.

Of the nine runners taking part 3 at Leeds and 6 at Clowne, five new bests were set. In the 10k all three runners posted new bests and were in the top 50 with Neil Renault home in 30:42 (16th),Rod Harris 31:43 (33rd) and Andy McNeil 32.32 (46th). Andy was also 2nd vet home.

With runners from top clubs like Tipton Harriers, Morpeth and Newham and Essex Beagles competing and with a race entry of 4200 runners, the results set by Long Eaton's top 3 runners are worthy of note.

The Clowne Half saw Jon Trindell and Richard O'Sullivan set new best times for the 13.1 miles with both inside the 1:30 mark. John was 44th and Richard 2 places later. Andy Colegate was first back for Long Eaton in 10th with Rich Mckie 281st, Rich Wheat back in 2:12:30. Vicky Lockhart completing the undulating course in 2:22:28 and 392nd overall.

The 3rd race in the North Midlands Cross Country League saw ten of the Club runners travelling to Berry Hill in Mansfield. Neil Renault was 3rd and needs to beat R.Birchall of Notts AC by 3 places to take the mens series overall, Alan Seamer keeping his consistent performances going was 64th, Ian Adkin in a rich vein of form was 89th, fourth home for Long Eaton was Glen Coleman, Rich Wilkinson was 129th,Mick McDermott 133rd and Alan Maplethorpe 140th. Andrei Vais home in 163rd place and the almost ever present Damien Cowlishaw ran the course in 44:12.

Luke Seamer in the Under 17 mens race came home in 23rd.
