Heanor Xmas Pud 10k
On a cold and frosty morning 590 runners completed the Matthew Walker 10k held in Heanor. The 20th running of this local race was a good one for the Long Eaton Running club who had the biggest club turn out with 28 members running.
The first two places were taken by Long Eaton Neil Renault winning by 2 minutes ahead of Andy McNeil and along with Alan Seamer and Sean Matthews also took the first prize in the mens team race. Glen Coleman was 17th, Rich Hill 22nd, and Ian Adkin wearing 666 had a devil of a job to hang on to 25th place.
Jodie Smith was first lady home for Long Eaton and after a quick first 5k, finished in 44:42 (Watch out Monica Fee) and 145th overall. Many personal and course bests were posted. Andrei Vias and John Hay knocked 2 mins off their 10k times. Debbie Parker was over a minute better than before for the 6.2 miles. Barbara Bostock knocked 10 minutes off her time from the same race last year, Phil Abbott managing not to get lost for a change also achieved a personal best along with Billy Parker.
Brione Abbott and Nicola Humphry had a very good Debuts for 10k, both managing to be well below the hour mark. Every finisher received an early Christmas present for finishing, a Matthew Walker Christmas Pudding which hopefully shall be run off early in the new year.
