Worksop Half Marathon
Sunday saw the silver anniversary of the Worksop half Marathon where 24 Long Eaton Running club members along with 1500 others took part. The men’s first team narrowly missed out on the gold position by only a few minutes with the six team members all in the top 70. The Ladies team were fourth and the men’s second team 10th overall.
With the weather almost perfect for running and with the help of an extra 60 minutes in bed due to the hour going back there were many good performances. Andy McNeil was 4th overall, first over 40 and also 1st in the Nottinghamshire County Championship V40 category.
Paul Lewis and Sean Matthews were 4th and 5th respectively in the senior Notts County Championship whilst Monica Fee was 2nd in the same competition.
The refreshed Clive Alison, racing for the first time in seven months, ran a brilliant 1:25:42. Paul Lewis (1:19:42) and Phil Abbott (1:34:19) achieved PB's with fine runs.
