Merrill 10k & Grin and Bear It

Long Eaton Running Club members enjoyed another successful day at the Merrill and Shelton Striders 10k on Sunday, with some excellent times over the new course. Neil Renault had a close battle with the race winner Tim Hartley, but had to settle for second place in a time of 31.42. Paul Lewis continued his recent improvement by taking 50 seconds off his Personal Best time to finish 9th in 35.35, closely followed by Richard O'Sullivan 36.15 and Ian Chant 37.43. Chant also took a large chunk of his previous best time and is starting to show signs of the ability that we always suspected that he had.

The ladies were led home by Monica Fee, who was 4th in the Senior Lady catagory in 43.07, Jodie Smith and Debbie Parker. Other Long Eaton runners were John Birch, 37.56, Craig Parker 42.59, Damien Cowlishaw and Ann and Peter Church.

Meanwhile in the Peak District two brave souls, Phil Abbott and Vicky Yeomans took part in the 15.7 miles, 2260 ft fell race, the Grin and Bear it. Taking a time of 3.20.40 one suspects that they didn't do too much of the Grin, and hopes that they did not do too much of the latter either.
