Bradbourne, Double or Quit & Newstead
With most members having a quiet training session in preparation for the Robin Hood in two weeks time, some LERC members still managed to have excellent races. In the Bradbourne Fell race John Birch continued his fine run of form with 5th place in a time of 35.16, just ahead of Glen Coleman and Andy Colgate. Caroline Waterhouse led the ladies home in front of Carole Birch and the fast finishing Cat Mortimer.
On Saturday Sean Matthews maintained his outstanding results with second place overall in the Ilkeston Double or Quits race at Shipley Park, clocking 63.59 for the hilly off road 10 miles. Paul Holmes ran a very respectable time in the 5 mile race before leaving the club to move to Bedford, and we wish him well at his new post.
Friday was the 3 mile Newstead Abbey Dash in which Phil Abbott recorded a personal best of 19.23, which bodes well for the coming cross country season.
The bank holiday sunday saw 25 members undertake a 25 mile bike ride including Breaston, Weston on Trent and several pubs in between. It was a good chance to do carbo loading for the upcoming races.
