Long Eaton first again!
A busy weekend brought success to Long Eaton Runnning Club members, with men's club captain John Birch leading the way. He followed up his season's best 5 mile time in the Notts Road Race league of 29.05 with an outstanding run in the Belper 30k, an off road course with 2,500 feet of climbing, which he convincingly won in the excellent time of 2.15.30. Also having fine runs at Belper were Ian Wallis, Andre Vais, Bill Sheppard, Carole Birch and Colin and Barbara Bostock.
The Notts RRL at Holme Pierrepont saw no fewer than 11 personal bests, notably from Paul Lewis who was 18th in 28.10, junior member Luke Seamer who recorded 28.31 , Sean Matthews in 28.55 and Mark Harrison. For the ladies Catherine Benson was 18th in 34.53, and there were good debut runs from Sarah Gascoigne, Heather Jordan-Stephens, Cat Mortimer and Louise Jansen.
On Sunday as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations 22 members either ran or cycled the 20 mile run from Trent Lock to Clifton Bridge, back along the south of the river to Thrumpton, Sawley Bridge and then to Trent Lock.Despite club chairman Ashok Patel doing his best to get his group lost, all 19 runners returned safely although 7 of them managed an extra 3 miles of diversions.
