Flora London Marathon
Long Eaton Running Club’s Rod Harris went several places and 3 minutes better than last year in the Flora London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April. In spite of the rainy conditions, Harris passed through 10 miles in the the third chasing group, eventually finishing in a stunning 47th place (out of 35000 runners!) in the Men’s race in a personal best time of 2:27:26.
Second home for the club, in a time of 2:34:58 was Andy McNeill, just missing out on a top 100 finish in 105th position. Next Long Eaton runner to finish was Andy Colegate, putting in a fine run to achieve a personal best of 2:45:15, with Ian Adkin (2:57:45, PB) and Sean Matthews (2:58:34, PB) also both achieving a sub-3 hour finish.
In the Ladies race, Monica Fee had a great run to finish under 3 ½ hours in 3:27:32 (PB), followed by Debbie Parker, another PB in just a few seconds over 4 hours.
