Heanor Cross Country

A waterlogged course on a cold and damp Saturday afternoon at Shipley Country Park proved no obstacle for Long Eaton's Rod Harris as he powered his way to a fine third place in the second round of the North Midland Cross Country series, moving up into first place in the Senior Men's competition overall. As the 9k race got underway Harris moved quickly into second place, a position he managed to maintain throughout most of the 3 laps until tiring in the latter stages due to the heavy and slippery conditions to finish in third. Alan Seamer, 53rd, Ian Adkin, 96th, Clive Allison, 100th and Chris Robson, 106th made up the remainder of the LERC A team, who now lie in 7th position overall. In the Ladies event, Ellen Ensor had an excellent run to lead Long Eaton ladies home, finishing in 18th place in the 6.6km race, followed by Bridgid Ellis, 48th, who finally overcame Becca Knowles, 53rd, passing her half way round the second lap, with Jodie Wilkes completing the ladies contingent in 60th place.
