Possible LERC newbie

Postby Sheila » Sun Jun 20, 2010 2:05 pm

I am toying with the idea of joining a club. I've been running for about 3 years (with lots of injured time) but now seem to be avoiding injury and staying fitter.

I've been an 11 min miler for years but am now able to maintain about 10 min miles. Is this OK for your club or am I still a bit on the slow side?

I could only come on Thursdays so is there a slow group on a Thursday?

Thanks

Hi Sheila, we have runners of that pace on thursdays and they should be ok to run with. What sort of distance are you up to as runs on thursdays tend to be over 5 miles?

This week many club members are competing in the Heritage series so there won't be too many people down, but i will be more than happy to run with you. It's a pity that you can't make Tuesdays as there are more slower runners then, but we can work something out. when you get to know people of your pace it will be no problem.

The run starts at 7, normally we have an indoor warm up at 6.30 but this week we will be warming up outdoors if i can get there on time.

I def can't make Tuesdays at the moment, shame really.

I run up to about 7 miles or so at the moment, I did a lovely 5 miles this morning so the distance should be ok. Not sure if I can make this Thursday and I go on holiday in 2 weeks. I think I'd like to come along some time soon, maybe next week if I can manage it?

ok, you won't have a problem with the distance which is the main thing, people will wait if necessary but i doubt that it will be.

Sounds great Sheila, come on join in you will soon find runners of the same ability and we have various routes so you wont be doing the same boring routes that you may be used to now.

Just doing the Thursdays is not a problem, we also have a few groups doing weekend runs so that might fit in with you too.

I am doing the Heritage series, so will have to wait until after your Holidays to say hello to you, hopefully

I'm a bit slower than you but if you let me know when you want to run I am happy to come down on a Thursday and run with you.

Hi Sheila, dont worry how fast you are there will always be some one to run with. (Although we are in the midddle of our anaual pilmage in the heritage series of races next week so the number of runners is a bit depleted Tuesday and Thursday(29th June and 1st July). Come on down and see if you like it.

Looks like I won't make tomorrow :-( I have some sort of leg issue. Sure it will be better by Tuesday.

Thanks. It's my own fault, more ass than leg today so hopefully that's progress. Will be there on tuesday and then off on hols for a couple of weeks (2 weeks of American food & no running won't help matters though!).

Thanks Chrisity! When I say ass I mean in a glute type way. Whatever it is, it's a bit sore.
