Just to feed back on the West Parkrun meeting, the funding is in place and council have approved a route similar to the Erewash Tri 5k.

It is 2 lap course using the paths mainly and the route stipulation is not allowed to cross over pitches / fields.

Also the Friends of West Park have been approached and are in favour of the event.

The plan is to start the 5k and then the juniors once established the 5k.

A few were at the meet and volunteers are needed to help so if you are interested & couldn't attend tonight drop me a message with your parkrun ID number to pass on.

Helen & Frasier Hood as the Nottinghamshire Parkrun ambassador and Kevin Bowen for the Derby Parkrun ambassador.

The event needs around 10 volunteers for the 1st 6-8 weeks to get the event going - 1/2 Event directors and 2 Run directors and about 10 volunteers for marshalling.

With most parkruns they have more than 2 run directors and rota who does what week. And it is proven by other parkruns that when the event is up and running more volunteers come forward.

It would be time wise requirement from 8.30am - 10.30am every Saturday morning.

The café by the park has been approached also to open over the summer as they currently do, with the leisure centre also.

Once the volunteers are in place it can take up to 6-8 weeks to get going depending on an available launch date.

There will be training, a trial of the route and further information in a month or so.
