This is an annual 1 mile timed event to mark the occasion where British athlete Roger Bannister was the first person to run one mile in under 4 minutes on the 6th May 1954. Warm up on the park and then split into two or more groups. Followed by a cool down on the park and chip cobs. A great chance to run a mile against the clock. Volunteers may be needed to warn the other park users of the impending stampede.
Starting with a counter-clockwise Pennyfields loop and then head down Wilsthorpe Road to Rail Station. Turn right to Tamworth Road. Left on Lock Lane to Trent Lock. Cross bridge over the canal and turn left. Follow canal under Tamworth Road and rejoin Tamworth Road just before the Fire Station. Turn left after Library onto Broad street, cross footbridge and return to WPLC via the park. Then on to the Rugby Club for chip cobs, drinks and a social.
Might be lower number of runners than usual, due to the Bannister mile. Please take extra care to look after each other.
