Long Eaton Running Club

At Long Eaton Running Club, we cater for all ages and abilities, from the 12 minute miler to the 12 miles an hour athlete. We run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, meeting at 6.30p.m. for an optional warm up session then start running at 7pm. We organise at least 2 different distances to cater for different abilities & if you are new a LERC member will stay with you so you won't get lost. After training, a few of us always go for a beer or two at a local pub, so please join us for a chat. Have a look around our site and if you fancy a run with us why not pop along one club night. We don't bite.

Runner of the Month

Congratulations to Michael Bland
Runner of the Month - Mike Bland. Following from a great Winter League season, where Mike performed well on the XC, being an integral part of the East Mids winning team, Mike has continued this form into the Summer League. Through April, Mike has competed in every Summer League race and taken an early lead in both the V35 category and the overall standings. Beginning with the Derby 10k, Mike obliterated his PB by over 40s to run a 36:40 - a feat made even more impressive by the fact he was called to an emergency night shift and didn't sleep beforehand! Moving on to Teversal, Mike was again a solid scorer for the title challenging men's side, finishing in 39th position, going nearly a minute quicker than last year. He then stepped it up to be our second counter and contribute strongly to our title challenging Vets team in the Notts League, finishing in very good 28th place. Finishing with the Bannister Mile, Mike clocked another PB for the month, coming agonisingly close to a sub-5 timing, finishing with a 5:03 for 147 more Summer League points. With a determination to help the LERC team, at every event, Mike shows an awesome commitment and spirit, consistently performing much better than he predicts. Continuing through Summer, it will be no surprise to see Mike clock a few more PB's and finish higher and higher as each race passes!
