Long Eaton Running Club

Long Eaton Running Club is a friendly running club with over 200 members. We are a diverse group. We have notable success in helping to get people in the local area running through the Couch-to-5k programme, we are enthusiastic supporters of our local parkrun, and we are very successful in local competition.

Club nights are on Tuesday and Thursday each week; meeting at West Park Leisure Centre from 6.15pm, with the run commencing at 6.30pm. There are usually at least two options for distance and, if you are new to the club, you will be paired with a similar-paced runner to make sure you don't get lost.

We offer trial membership for 4 weeks. So if you fancy a run with us, just drop us a message to let us know you will be coming along and then make yourself known when you arrive.

To get a feel for what the club is like ahead of your visit, please take a look around this website or our public-facing page

Runner of the Month

Congratulations to Mark Lay
It’s often the case that a LERC Runner of the Month could well have won the award for a number of the previous months too and that’s certainly the case for the January 2024 winner, Mark Lay. The whole winter for Mark has produced a series of fine runs, many of them in the Cross Country arena – and this is where January’s running really stood out, particularly with a double-header of competitive racing at Bulwell Hall Park, separated by just a week. First up came the County Championships, with Mark competing in the Derbyshire race-within-a-race, with a week to recover from a tough 6.7 mile slog through mud and standing ice-cold water before taking a slightly different route through much the same in the last of the North Mids races. Both saw Mark run PBs and finish well up in age category.
In terms of double-headers, the North Mids was also the Saturday helping of XC2, with our own BDL race at Bramcote coming the day after. Whilst clearly having sapped the legs, Mark still managed a comfortable top 30 finish, part of what will, I’m sure be a Vet 50 league victory.
All this came shortly after starting the year strongly, finishing 2nd Vet 50 at the Malt Shovel Hangover Race on New Year’s Day.
All this has been achieved without being fully fit, either! We’re really looking forward to the niggly achilles returning to 100% and seeing you at full speed. Well done Mark…
