Long Eaton Running Club is a friendly running club with over 200 members.
We are a diverse group. We have notable success in helping to get people in the local area running through the Couch-to-5k programme, we are enthusiastic supporters of our local parkrun, and we are very successful in local competition.
Club nights are on Tuesday and Thursday each week; meeting at West Park Leisure Centre from 6.45pm, with the run commencing at 7.00pm. There are usually at least two options for distance and, if you are new to the club, you will be paired with a similar-paced runner to make sure you don’t get lost.
We offer FREE trial membership for 4 weeks. So; if you fancy a run with us, just drop us a message to let us know you will be coming along and then make yourself known when you arrive.
To get a feel for what the club is like ahead of your visit, please take a look around this website or our public-facing page.

Club run (Bardills Tram Stop n Back - 5.90 miles);
Head across West Park and use Lime Terrace & Grove (exit just after the tennis tent) to turn R onto Derby Road. Get onto the canal, noth-bound, immediately after the bridge (gap in the wall, on the RHS of the road). Stay on the tow-path for 0.3 miles. Where it forks, turn R, but instead of continuing North on the flood bank, head East. Follow the path through a gate, where it turns R, heading for the back of Asda. As the path emerges towards the road, turn L and follow the path, headed towards the footbridge over the railway. This path emerges into the scrubland next to Toton Sidings. Choose a path northbound, ultimately to end up on the best path, furthest to the East, heading Northwards up the hill. When it reaches the top, turn R, then L, out onto a downhill path over a field. This path then turns R and heads gently uphill, towards the tram stop, emerging onto the main road through an avenue of trees. Turn R & stay on the main road down the steep hill into Toton. At the traffic lights go straight on, onto Carrfield Avenue, then straight over Manor Farm Open Space. After crossing the river (twice), turn R onto Lansdown Grove and, at the end, turn L on Norfolf Rd, back to Derby Rd. Cross safely when you can, taking a quick R and L onto Conway Street. This emerges onto Station Road, where you turn R. Head straight for West Park. Take care crossing Main St onto West Gate and Tamworth Road onto Broad St, entering the park over the footbridge. Head back across the park to the Leisure Centre. [https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/8022903/LERC-6miler-to-Toton-n-back]

Runner of the Month
Congratulations to Alex Vize
January Runner of the Month - Alex Vize
Another eventless month passed us by, but still people were running hard and pushing themselves!
One of those was Alex Vize. Alex may not be known to many, but has been a LERC’er for 18 months now – just unfortunate that most of those 18 months we’ve been able to meet or race!
However, in that time Alex has taken the opportunity to attend the speed sessions put on and with some commitment and hardwork, shown exactly what can be achieved.
Beginning with a 5k PB of 20:42 (which is still his official PB), he’s taken chunk after chunk off that time.
The end of January saw another sizable chunk knocked off and another milestone reached, as he clocked 17:44, to go sub-18 for the first time!
This backs up a storming 10k PB set in December, with a 37:42 around the Wilne, taking 3 minutes off in just two months and a ridiculous 8 minutes off what his PB was this time last year!
The man is in form and flying, setting a great example to all of us.
Great work Alex – don’t know where these improvements will end, but we're looking forward to finding out!
