Long Eaton Running Club

At Long Eaton Running Club, we cater for all ages and abilities, from the 12 minute miler to the 12 miles an hour athlete. We run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, meeting at 6.30p.m. for an optional warm up session then start running at 7pm. We organise at least 2 different distances to cater for different abilities & if you are new a LERC member will stay with you so you won't get lost. After training, a few of us always go for a beer or two at a local pub, so please join us for a chat. Have a look around our site and if you fancy a run with us why not pop along one club night. We don't bite.

Runner of the Month

Congratulations to Paul Lewis
In a month ravaged by shocking conditions & cancellations, it is even more impressive that Paul continued with his training and preparations for the Bob Graham Round run.

This included completing both Winter League XC races that survived (one of only six LERC'ers to do both); with a strong run at a hilly Colwick, finishing only just behind regular Senior counters Dan & Mario, in 28th; and a heroic battle through the ridiculously tough ground conditions at the Wollaton Park Nationals, as well as doing his bit for the club with a volunteering stint too!

These results have left Paul sitting in 2nd place overall in the LERC Winter League table, with a very healthy lead in the V45 category.

Incredibly, a day after the strength sapping, mud wade at the Wollaton XC, Paul then went and ran the Stamford 30, leading the LERC contingent home.

Prior to this there was a weekend where Paul slacked off a bit and ONLY attempted one race in 48 hours - The Winter Half Tour of Bradwell! Although, this was the toughest of the lot, as this saw him spend nearly 3 and a half hours, climbing nearly 4000ft, over 18 miles - some effort!

Alongside all these hardcore efforts, Paul also cracked on with some more sedate parkrunning. A 5th place and sub-20 at Poolsbrook, was followed by an almost identical clocking at Long Eaton and finally, a 4th place and top V50 at a tough Bestwood course.

An awe-inspiring month regardless, but to keep at such intensity over some of the toughest courses and worst conditions around, just wow!
