Shepshed 7 and Booth Cross Country race 2
On the 1st Nov the Shepshed 7 took place and 8 Long Eaton runners took part it rained very heavily before the start for this 2 lap race of mixed terrain, Ian Chant handled the conditions best and was 9th in 42:43, Mario Rochelli (perhaps to be renamed Mario Andretti for his new found speed) was next
and was 42nd, Martin Way racing every week nowadays set 48:57 and Damien Cowlishaw set a new PB of 52:29 for the 7 miles of the race. Duncan Gedge and Rich McKie also ran fine races. Two Ladies also took Part with Sarah Crannage 185th and 55:23 with Carole Prokopyszyn 251st in 58:48.
In the Booth XC race 2 a Chaddesden 25 Long Eaton runners took part with Many a PB set and race debuts, 10 of the runners were ladies, with Sarah harris taking a hold of the individual prize with a fine 2nd place to go with her 1st place in the 1st race in the series, Ann Townsend ran her 1st ever Cross country and Claire Grace in new Fell Shoes also ran her 1st XC for the Club, with the 1st 3 ladies of Sarah Harris, Monica Fee and Cath Benson all in the top 90 (this included men as well) Long Eaton ladies were 1st again and have a healthy lead in the team standing at the top of the pile. The 15 men of Long Eaton also had a fine day with a good 3rd place on the day 1 place better than at Shipley park and also Lie 3rd after the 1st 2 races. With 7 men counting in a team all 7 were in the top 70, Further down the field there were inter club battles with John Hay, Damien Cowlishaw, Chris Robson and Shaun Burton all within 19 seconds of each other with Chris Robson having no respect for his captain and Pipped Shaun on the line. Steve Grace ran his 1st XC for Long Eaton and was pleased with his performance. A big thanks goes to Andy Colegate who wasnt going to run after a night Shift and did not have any kit, he borrowed some and was 17th.
