Kinder Downfall Fell Race

Not to warm, dry underfoot and a cooling southerly breeze gave perfect conditions for this popular and full Hayfield championship race. The first climb then descent to William clough leaves you wheezing then you're obliged to keep running until the steps at the top and final climb onto the edge of the Kinder plateau. If you dare take your eyes off the gritstone boulders you skip between then the surrounding views are well worth the climb. Off the edge on flag stones around Swines back to Edale Cross then a fast ankle turning rocky traverse before hurtling down grassy fields to a road leading to the finish in a play park. Lloyd Taggert took the honours for Dark Peak in a tad over 67m.
Rich Wilkinson of Long Eaton Finished 58th in 1:23:51
