WL 1617

Postby foxontherun » Sat Sep 03, 2016 3:42 pm

For the Club Winter League list, and for initial planning:

Goose Fair Gallop - Sun 9 Oct

Worksop Halloween Half - Sun 30 Oct

Apart from the cross country league fixtures, and these two regulars, the list compilation has just begun. Any sensible suggestions please.

We plan to add in a race, possibly "Bluebells" on 16 Mar, which will be part of both the 2017 Fell league, and the WL1617 - two lots of points. We would also do something similar next summer with the Fell & SL 2017. This is an attempt to stimulate some interest in the Fell League, where numbers have been low for some time.

Cross Country Training Sections:

With the Summer League almost over and the Winter League approaching fast, does anyone fancy some Xcountry training? Hill mud and off road trails? What day does anyone fancy and time? First Xcountry race on the 02 October Shipley Park, Heanor.

Wow Summer is now at an end, cross country ahead more off-road running and mud!

All for free for affiliated club members - no paying for these expensive mud runs - join in the cross country for free

What do you need?

Some offroad / Trail shoes with deep tread and if you like it invest in some £30 spikes down the line!!

Great strengthening for your legs and core like with anything building up, start heading off road for weekend runs and come join in the training with Mario to see what it's all about. It's a break from the tarmac and a different challenge - give it a try all!

Derby 10k would be a good one, it is April, so right towards the end, and be a good excuse to get a good turnout.

Likewise some faster road running in Feb/March would be good. Even if it is nominating a parkrun (say Beeston) and everyone showing up there to run for a winter league race - even better if it is a race against another running club :-)

I assume Turkey trot not in as sold out and wasn't published as being in at the time?

Derby10 mile also would've been a good one - but close to being sold out if not already? Maybe next year

Heanor Pud 10k?

Huncote Hash?

Weston 5?

Shepshed 7 been in before,

New EMA 10K but £18 entry ...... http://www.huubevents.com/events/ema-10k-2016/ clash with free XC!!!!

Winter List 2016-17

Postby foxontherun » Tue Oct 04, 2016 3:05 pm

Shepshed 7 - 6 Nov, SI entries, non on the day.

Heanor Xmas Pud - 20 Nov

Hunslet Hash - Probably 1 Jan

Weston 5 - Possibly 19 Mar

All of the above are in.

Turkey Trot out as already sold out. Might reconsider if enough have entered.

Don't want to include EMA 10k because of clash with East Mids league race on 27 Nov.

North Mids race at Kettering included this year. Might entice some to make the trip just for a 150!

Both of own XC fixtures included, even though we will want enough volunteers for marshalling. There are enough races to miss one, or two to help out.

Min of 8 to count. 19 races in total. There is room for one or two more if suitable, and likely to attract a few club runners. Mid/late-December and Early March are a bit bare.

Regards,

League Org.

I'd forgotten about the Hanor race. club league notwithstanding I'll get entered this weekend, as I really like it. Besides an Xmas pud is the best thing I've ever gotten after a race!

Hi

Is Trent Meadows Wed 22 Feb a duplication on the calendar?

It was a balls-up. There's no race on Wed 22nd. Should have been 22 Jan.
