Hi Rob,

Great decision!

Can you also confirm which point system you going to use ?

Only one I can see missing is the Ashby 20 which is very popular. Potential clash with trent meadows I guess is the reason? it is 20 March.

We discounted the Ashby 20 last time, the reason for which escapes me for the moment. Probably won't clash if 20 Mar. Trent Meadows EMXC fixture may be 13 Mar if Weston 5 is 6th. What's the feeling about the Ashby 20? I think that we decided that it was too long a race to get more than 3 or 4 club members max, so easy points, if a tough race.

Just to be clear about the points system. No change. Sorry Mario.

It is a shame about the Shelton 10k (formerly Merrill). It is a good event and was always very well supported by the club. Now it always clashes with the GFG, which we always win. I'm not against having two races which clash included in principle.

Need to decide this one quickly. How many are entering the Shelton 10k?

I haven't entered either Shelton or GFG, I am waiting to see what's in the league before I enter!

I think it wouldn't really be fair to exclude the GFG totally after announcing it as the first race a couple of months ago. Agree that the Merrill/Shelton Striders 10k is a good race, so would have no problems with both being in (I'll be doing the GFG though!)

10 LERC in last year's Ashby 20, surely that's enough to include it?

No GFG or Shelton for me - the wife is doing Shelton, so I am on babysitting duties.

Other races that would be good to see? Rushcliffe 10k and Fradley 10k are both early season races, though I haven't yet done either.

True, Ashby is very popular given the number of folk doing Spring marathons

What's the date for Ashby 20? I'm nearly convinced. Don't forget that these races are going to happen anyway.

March 20 for Ashby, following their routine of X weeks before London. I'll be running whatever, for the cheese sandwich and the hoodie mainly!

Great to see so much interest in the winter league and the cross country in particular.
I'm happy to car share now I live closer!! Definitely!

XC season seems to divide the club and seems to be around the corner sooner than we think after the summer, with hills training and offroad training you can strengthen and gain confidence in running offroad - like previous years would anyone be up for training hills and similar training ground so its less of a surprise....?
I ran around markeaton park today to familiarise myself after theIr junior parkrun

Seems like a good mixture of events and the 3 XC are varied for runners east midlands great all start together, reasonable terrain and great for newer ladies to XC as shorter distances. North Mids is a mix of abilities, I've been at the back it does attract a faster field as flatter (in XC standards) and easier XC terrain, ladies and men start separately so great for cheering each other on too. Booths is all together and wilder terrain - lots of you pay £££ for tough muddier events - try these for free!!

Great news on Goose Fair gallop, spoke to a KADS runner handing out leaftets at parkrun - struggling for numbers was the comment.

Ashby has been in and out of the leagues before - agree its tailored to members running a spring marathon and regardless of the league or not those training for a marathon would run it anyway.

Looking forward to getting back into league races this winter!

It's on page 2 of this thread, but I'll copy it onto the "Home" page, and eventually into the calendar.

Shame GFG clashes with one of the fell league races. I would usually try to do it but I think it's the fells for me this year.
