Friday night pub run and social

Postby Woolly » Thu Apr 07, 2016 5:24 pm

How about a lovely scenic 5ish mile run on a Friday night followed by a catch up with our old friends Leeann & Phil Thompson at the Rose & Crown Morley for food and drinks after.
Their new pub back up this way since the Bulls head days in Breaston and returning from Leicester.
Let us know if you want to come along so we can warn them both of numbers to get arrangements in place.

Hi all

Phil Sugden local to the area has come up with a greta little route to try, I just hope I've interpreted it well for the map!!

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6852645

From the Rose and Crown turn left along the A608 towards Smalley. Turn right along Bell Lane (opposite Smalley Hall), keep going along here until you get to the turn to Mapperely resevouir and take 2nd turn on the right just past the open cast mine. Follow this trial until you get to the car park and turn left along Shipley Lane and then turn left when you get to Bell Lane again. Follow this back to the A608, turn left and back to Rose and Crown.

Simple route, about 9.53K, can extend it to 11.5K if people wanted. Mixture of a bit of pavement along A608, rest is trail. Some good hills in this route, but to be truthful wherever you run round here theres hills.

Well I had a fantastic time:
Thank you to Woolly for organising it and mine hosts, Phil and Leanne.
The route interconnected several areas in my mind, Heanor Christmas Pudding race & Booths Cross Country in Shipley Park.
Doom Bar Beer after and the Pizza was one of the best I,ve ever had - hand made by the Landlord.
Shep. Now I do love a bit of Gorgonzola.
