M1 was closed north bound between Jns 28 and 29 due to a vehicle on fire. Gridlock everywhere. Phil Abbott got stuck in traffic trying to leave Nottingham so went for a curry and a pint instead. Paul Stevenson and I left Long Eaton 17:00 just managed to get there 19:28, 2 mins before the start via A610, Matlock, through Chatsworth etc. Filled form in, paid, no time to change shoes so both did it in road shoes. Amazed no Gayle there!
I started my Garmin half way round first lap of field and still clocked up 6.1 miles. Lots of tarmac and dry conditions so road shoes were good except for rough track down off Win Hill where turning an ankle would have been easy. Sweated bucket and I would have been no wetter climbing out of a lake. Lovely view of Ladybower climbing up back of Win Hill. Free Flap Jack post race and enjoyed a pint after. A good night.
See for http://www.longeatonrunningclub.com/res ... aceid=4285 results.

M1 was still closed northbound on our return and we saw tarmac repair ongoing presumably due to the melted road surface from the fire.
Shep. Now I do love a bit of Gorgonzola.

Well done Bill and Paul on such a hot night. I didn't get there as I was Travelling from Derby that night and the traffic was very bad. Maybe see you Sunday if you are going to Great Hucklow

Yes well done both. I decided not to do it simply because of the weather - I struggle enough as it is. I've also decided not to do Great Hucklow for the same reason so Sheldon is my next fell race I think.

Top effort from Bill & Paul in not only managing to get there, just in time, but also getting to do the race.

Top effort of a different sort from PABC for his quick thinking..."sod this sitting in traffic lark, I'm off for a pint and a curry.." =D>
