AT CHROME HILL FELL RACE

The race organiser has kindly agreed for the Chrome Hill fell race to host the
re-scheduled, 8th Nottinghamshire AAA County Fell Running Championships.
PARKING IN THE FIELD OFF THE LANE JUST BEFORE THE SCHOOL. NO PARKING ON THE LANE
£5 entry on the day – arrive in good time before the 2:00 pm start AND BEAR IN MIND THE TRAVEL TIME ON NARROW COUNTRY LANES.
Chrome Hill fell race is set in the idyllic upper reaches of the river Dove in the area around the tiny Staffordshire hamlet of Hollinsclough. The race forms part of the Hollinsclough C of E Academy primary school’s annual fete.
The race is held over private land on footpaths, tracks and short road / quiet lane sections and crosses grassy and muddy farm footpaths, tracks and pasture and climbs sharply to the summit of the majestic shark-fin shaped limestone peak of Chrome Hill to descend swiftly to lanes and farm tracks to the start-finish outside the school.
Please arrive early and stay late to enjoy refreshments and activities at the fete and to support the school community. Toilets available at the school.
Chrome Hill fell race is a BS category fell race of 6.4 km / 4 miles and 213m / 699 feet ascent. The course has steep, grassy ascents and descents with limestone outcropping which can be slippery when wet or dry, rough grass with uneven, wet or muddy ground and stony tracks. Studded fell shoes are advisable.
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY ENTRANTS MUST FIRST REGISTER FOR THE RACE AND THEN REGISTER AT THE NOTTS DESK TO ENTER THE COUNTY FELL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE AND TO HAVE A MANDATORY KIT CHECK IF THE RACE ORGANISER DEEMS CONDITIONS ON THE DAY MAKE THIS NECESSARY
The race is to be run under FRA rules, and there may be mandatory full kit requirement THAT MUST be carried throughout the race. This will consist of full body cover of waterproof cagoule with hood and full length waterproof bottoms, hat and gloves, whistle, silva type compass and map suitable to navigate the course and the ability to use both map and compass. The kit to be carried throughout the race is a mandatory requirement if the race organiser deems it necessary due to conditions on the day. Nottinghamshire Championship runners WILL ALL be kit checked before the race start and at random on finishing if there is a kit requirement. Failure to comply with kit requirements will result in disqualification from the race and championships. BRING YOUR FULL KIT!!
IMPORTANT CHAMPIONSHIP RULE CLARIFICATION FOR 2018
Individual runners are permitted to compete as unattached (not a member of a running club), and there is no restriction in subsequent years. For team awards, runners must compete for their First Claim club.
Nottinghamshire qualification based upon birth in county or residence for the last 9 months and competitors must be over 18.
No previous participation in a championship race for another county in this competition year, e.g. cross-country for Lincolnshire by residency then Nottinghamshire Fell by birth.
Runners should wear clothing suitable for the conditions. It is not essential, but it is hoped that club vests will be worn.
County championship medals awarded in line with Nottinghamshire AAA rules to men and women in open, V35-44, V45-54, V55-64, V65-74, V75+ and team (3 of any age).
Nottinghamshire Fell Championships results will be posted on the Nottinghamshire AAA website http://www.nottsaaa.org as soon as possible after the race.
Teams will consist of the first 3 scoring runners of any age from each club and best on position NOT times - in the event of teams tied on points the last scoring runner nearest the winner determines final team position. There is only one category of open team. There are no vet team awards. Medal presentations will take place soon after the end of the race.
Any protest or objection by a competitor or club against the placing of any competitor or club team or against the conduct of another competitor must be made to the Championship Organiser Dicky Wilkinson prior to the medal presentation; or in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org within one week of the publication of the results on the Notts AAA website. Please note anonymous objections may not be considered.
