Annual bike ride Sunday August 24th.

The off-topic area. All the drivel you'd normal spout in the pub goes here.

Annual bike ride Sunday August 24th.

Postby chrisity » Sun Jul 27, 2014 7:35 pm

Sunday 24th August, meeting at 1.00pm at The Navigation, Breaston, to leave by 1.30pm, then on to the Harrington at Thulston, The White Hart at Aston-on-Trent, the Coopers Arms at Weston-on-Trent, then down the canal to Shardlow for the Navigation and/or the Malt Shovel. From there to Cavendish Bridge and the Old Crown, before going to Sawley and the Nags Head or The Harrington Arms Beer Festival or the White Lion if you have the stamina. Any further pubs by individual arrangement. Drinking alcohol is not essential but recommended.

http://www.fetcheveryone.com/route-276807 for the route.

This is a top notch day out, featuring the fourth annual running of the race around the fishing pond at the Coopers Arms.

Ah, I'm in Newcastle that weekend Chris so won't be able to attend - more's the pity.

Can I however make a recommendation for the 2 contestants in the "round the lake race" namely Messrs.Maplethorpe & Easter.! \:D/ Someone will have to take a video of it on their mobile phone!

Are you going to join us at Thulston then Pabc?

Who else is coming along apart from Alan M? You can drink as little as you like, it's a fun cycle ride with plenty of rest stops.

Weather forecast 17-19 degrees C, no rain with 10% chance at 6.00, winds 5 - 8 mph from the West.

Looks good, see you at the Navigation in Breaston from 1.00, leaving at 1.30 by the cycle path for Elvaston Castle and then the Harrington Arms at Thurlston which is just on the Southern edge of Elvaston. Bring a few sandwiches or get some food at the Coopers Arms in Weston which usually has a good selection of Sunday Roasts.

If you want to join is somewhere on the course let us know so that we can wait for you.
