Re: Upcoming AGM Meeting October 2018

Phil A. mentioned a % based scoring system. I'm also not against it, and you make a good point about time not necessarily making a difference (though is it not about racing, not time trials?). The scoring has clearly been a bit of a lightning rod to others. I think most people accept the current sys...

Re: Upcoming AGM Meeting October 2018

I haven't seen anything on facebook other than the time/location. It does seem the forum doesn't really get used any more which is a shame, but if that is the case then maybe it does need to be shuttered formally. I have also put together some suggested rule changes for the club leagues, as the curr...

Re: 400 Challenge

It seems like I'm second in that case on both... though there's no shame being behind those efforts - they are pretty stunning. The calendar year one I'm pretty sure I can beat on a good year - and would have done in 2014 with a couple more distances done, but the 12 month period one is just ridicul...

Re: 400 Challenge

Looking a bit more, I can't see any that beat it. The closest would be Andy Colegate in 2006 who would push it close, but doesn't have a 5k time, and Paul Lewis in 2010 who is out of sight of all my PBs (never mind my times this year), apart from not having done a 1 mile in that year. Everyone else ...

Re: 400 Challenge

I did indeed complete it last night. 4.52 for the mile means for now it's 388.14, with the chance to shave off seconds here and there (sadly not minutes as I'm not taking another marathon on this year). It's taken me a few years to do, and I dread to think how much in race entries, but it was an int...

Re: 400 Challenge

Ok to put this one to bed (hopefully), I now have times recorded for everything apart from the 1 mile... and am entered in to the 1 mile and 5000m tomorrow in Nottingham. I've also knocked bits off of some of the other times 1 mile TBC 5K 16.27 (Newstead Abbey) edges out the 16.43 (LE Parkrun) 5 mil...

Re: 400 Challenge

6 days from now I'll have another entry, but for now: 1 mile 5K 16.46 (LE Parkrun) 5 mile 10K 34.29 (Rushcliffe 10k) 10 mile 1/2M 75.44 (Belvoir half) M The marathon really is make or break as it makes up 40% of the challenge. So far I've done 22.4 miles of the 64.6 in 127 minutes, so I need to aver...

Re: 400 Challenge

So, as of today

1 mile
5K 16.46
5 mile
10K
10 mile
1/2M 79.12
M

Only a couple of entries, but a 10k in 2 weeks, and London in 6 starts to fill in some of the gaps.

Re: 400 Challenge

This year, this year I will manage it! I just need an injury free year which I haven't had since 2014 when all I was missing was a mile and a 10 mile I think! So far I have a 17.10 5k, which is on track.

Re: Club Summer League 2017 - Final list

I've decided to include the Newark Half Marathon on 13 Aug, at the expense of the Tara Kinder 10k. Sorry if that disappoints anyone. It will still happen on 14 July, but I have to stick to maximum of 26 races. The limit is 1500 places, so get on-line and enter. The Belper 30k is the following Sunda...

Re: summer league 2017

One I'd like to see: - Derby 10k - Erewash 4 mile - Ramathon - Belper rugby rover (I haven't dne it in year, but it is a well run race, and a bit longer than the typical summer ones which are circa 5 miles) - No races that sell out months before the race itself: It creates a burden and barrier to ta...

Re: 400 Challenge

The mile option is a good idea - I was thinking where can I do a mile flat out in the light in a timed way! Hopefully with parkruns I will get a lot of bites at the cherry, and assuming I can do the HPRC series, then that's another one, but if not, the track is an option too. I do just like the idea...

Re: 400 Challenge

So this is one that has been gnawing on me for a while, and next year I'm throwing down and am going to properly attempt it. This year started really well with a 5k PB (16.45) and a decent HM (1.16) then a good marathon (2.38). After that injury an knee surgery mean I have only just done my first se...

Re: Cross Country Season 2016-17

I'd forgotten about the Hanor race. club league notwithstanding I'll get entered this weekend, as I really like it. Besides an Xmas pud is the best thing I've ever gotten after a race!
