February Runner of the Month - Jackie Mather
At Long Eaton Running Club, we cater for all ages and abilities, from the 12 minute miler to the 12 miles an hour athlete. We run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, meeting at 6.30p.m. for an optional warm up session then start running at 7pm. We organise at least 2 different distances to cater for different abilities & if you are new a LERC member will stay with you so you won't get lost. After training, a few of us always go for a beer or two at a local pub, so please join us for a chat. Have a look around our site and if you fancy a run with us why not pop along one club night. We don't bite.

Runner of the Month
Congratulations to Jackie Mather
February Runner of the Month - Jackie Mather A mainstay of LERC for over a decade now and a regular friendly face, completing well over 200 races for us, Jackie remains highly motivated. February has seen Jackie take part in all five of the Winter League races, putting in some stunning performances. Within her V55 age category, Jackie had been untouchable, winning the Booths X-Country at Holmebrook Valley (her second in a row), Clifton parkrun & Dave Denton 5k (as a V50) and while there are no official age category results, it's highly likely Jackie also won the two East Mids XC races - A clean sweep! Such results are a clear indication of how seriously our Half-Marathon County Champion still takes her running and how much she still enjoys it! In our own internal Winter League series, February has seen Jackie claim some big points, including a max 150, to rise up to 4th female overall, within touching distance of 2nd and a clear leader in the V55's. One of the highlights of the month has been the battles between our February runner of the month and December's - Amanda Larkin - as the two of them took on a number of the same races. While Amanda just edged the X-C races, the 5k's were a real spectacle with the two of them inseparable for pretty much every metre of both races! At Clifton parkrun, it was Amanda who had the stronger finish to lead in by 5s; while at Dave Denton's 5k, Jackie took top honours and led in by... 5s! This obviously shows the best of both runners, but by competing regularly, creating a friendly rivalry and constantly pushing each other to better results, it also shows the best of LERC as a whole and that is a perfect way to finish summarising Jackie! Congratulations on a fantastic month :)
